Motherhood - The Best Job in the World! I've worked since I was 16, in retail, hotels, small business, and for many years in Silicon Valley corporate management; put myself through college earning a BSBA and an MBA degree. But by far the most rewarding accomplishment of my life is motherhood and the two beautiful and intelligent daughters I've raised. They are caring, conscientious and good human beings, and I'm so proud of both of them. It's a job for which I received far less training than any other paid job, a job characterized by constant worry and manic swings from pure terror (when they were sick or hurting), to pure elation - watching them take off the training wheels for the first time, get the first volleyball serve over the net, or walk across the stage to collect awards and diplomas. It's also a job from which I can never get laid off, fired, or demoted; though I'm hoping eventually to earn a promotion to grandmother ! (hint, hint.... girls) Though it's nice to get flowers and cards and special recognition, it's really not necessary. I am rewarded every day for being a mom, the best job in the world. This image was taken in Sausalito on Mother's Day 1999. (There are many more recent pictures - I just like this one because we all look so sunny and happy !) The Peninsula Tokyo, Entrance and Building facade Introducing the haunted house/hotel of Tokyo...no, just kidding :D But don't you think it looks a lot like a "monster house" ??? OK, this is actually the Peninsula Tokyo hotel, a premium luxury hotel that is argubably the #1 hotel in Tokyo, and rank among the best in Asia. This is undoubtly the best hotel in Tokyo for me. I have already tried the Ritz Carlton, the Four Seasons and the Mandarin Oriental. Among these 4 hotels in Tokyo, the Ritz Carlton is nice and comfortable but a bit dull, the Four Seasons have great service but rooms need upgrading to keep up with the times. The Mandarin Oriental Tokyo is pure crap, a pretentious over-rated hotel with awful service ( more on that later ). Only the Peninsula Tokyo has all aspects covered, great rooms, great location, great service. It just celebrated it's 1 year anniversary last September. It goes without saying I had a great time at this hotel and this is my second stay. Happy Birthday and Congrats to the Management of Peninsula for a good job done! This is the start of a series that will take you inside the hotel and to the room/suite and don't worry, it's not "scary looking" like the building. Have a great weekend!
